Workshops

In addition to classes, Amherst Ballet offers workshops of various lengths focused on ballet technique, classical variations, choreography, and more. All workshops take place at our new studio, 65 Sunderland Road, Amherst. Read more about our approach to ballet here.

Variations

January 24, 3:30-4:30pm: Kitri’s variation from Act I of Don Quixote
For dancers at Level 3 through adult, $20 per dancer. Scholarships available as needed. Contact info@amherstballet.org with questions. No registration needed; just show up!

April 4, 4:00-5:00pm: Kitri’s wedding variation, from Act 3 of Don Quixote.

Barre & Bar: Ballet Fundamentals

July 12, 3:00-6:00ishpm: Barre & Bar, special edition
This special edition of our quarterly Barre & Bar series is for beginner adult men, and will focus on skills and vocabulary to support men’s healthy participation in ballet. Led by company dancer Brokk Toggerson, the session includes a full introductory ballet class with ample time for questions and discussion. Hang out and enjoy refreshments after the class! Appropriate for absolute beginners. Max 20 students; suggested donation $60; no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Contact info@amherstballet.org with questions.

August 1, 3:00-6:00ishpm, with social hour. Part of our quarterly ballet foundations series, focusing on ballet foundations for adult dancers who want to go deeper into technique: things you may never have learned if you are an adult beginner, or may have lost track of if you learned them a long time ago. Appropriate for beginner dancers who have taken several classes through advanced dancers. Come for the workshop and stay to hang out! Max 20 students. Summer Workshops

Absolute Beginner Ballet. Teens & adults.
Monday & Wednesday, 6:00-7:30pm; 5-week session running from 6/29-7/29
Tuition: $180

This 5-week session, meeting for two classes each week, will provide an essential foundation for new dancers and the grounding to participate in ongoing classes and workshops. A minimum class size of 5 students is necessary for this class to run.

Ballet Days Workshop. Ages 6-10. 
August 10-14, 9:00-4:00
Tuition: $600/week

Includes class, stretching, conditioning, improvisation, listening to & making music, watching ballet & learning ballet history, doing costume & set crafts, picnicking in the park, and dancing under the sprinkler.

Dancers bring water, lunch, and snacks. Wear standard ballet attire. Contact info@amherstballet.org with questions.

Back-to-ballet Intensive. Ages 11+.
August 17-21, 9:00-4:00
Tuition: $600/week

Includes class, stretching, conditioning, improvisation/creative movement,  music, watching ballet, ballet history, and learning repertoire.
