Summer Benefit Concert

Thursday, July 23rd at 6:30 p.m. at 65 Sunderland Road in Amherst

Gary Capoziello and Jaroslaw Lis, violin
Geoffrey Archambeau, viola
Ignacy Gaydamovich, cello
Corbin Beisner, piano

Violinists Gary Capoziello and Jaroslaw Lis are principal players with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra and teach at the Hart School. Violist Geoffrey Archambeau is Amherst Ballet’s Music Director. Cellist Ignacy Gaydamovich, who lived and performed in Amherst for over 10 years, is now tenured professor of cello at East Tennessee State University. Pianist Corbin Beisner studied at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest; his solo piano recitals enjoy a large local following in the valley.

This concert will benefit our new music program, including purchase of special wheels to move our Steinway & Sons grand piano for concerts and rehearsals without damaging the marley dance floor, and a Dampp-Chaser humidification system to maintain its beautiful sound.

Community Children’s Concert & Celebration
Sunday, August 23rd at 3:00 p.m.
A string orchestra of local professional musicians and their students will perform beloved child-friendly classics. Popsicles, popcorn, and cookies will be shared by all musicians, young and less-young. Stamell Strings, 18 Kellogg Avenue in Amherst, will offer a bowed strings petting zoo, where all the fascinating differences and similarities between violins, violas, cellos, double basses, and their bows will be explored in a hands-on display. Discounts on starter rentals will be available.

Saturday, September 19th, at the Hope Center for the Arts, 150 Bridge Street, Springfield
Original choreography set to live music: J. S. Bach’s Suite No. 3 for solo cello (BWV 1009), Manuel De Falla’s 6 Canciones Populares, and Alain Hovhaness’ Chahagir (Torchbearer).

The Snow Maiden
December 11-13, 2026, pending venue confirmation
Our beloved winter show will return, set to selections from three works by Tchaikovsky: The Serenade for Strings, Symphony No. 1 in G-minor (Winter Reverie), and Incidental Music for the play, “The Snow Maiden.”

When the Sea Turned to Silver
Friday-Sunday May 14-16, 2027, pending venue confirmation
A completely new ballet, choreographed by Mikayla Archambeau, based on author and illustrator Grace Lin’s modern young adult classic, “When the Sea Turned to Silver,” and created in collaboration with the author.
