This season, Allana Scudder joins the faculty of Amherst Ballet to teach Hip Hop. Allana is a UMass senior majoring in Dance and was recommended highly by Shakia Johnson, the Five Colleges professor.
Allana first sparked interest in dance through an Alvin Ailey dance camp where she began her formal dance training in ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop and African at 14 years old.
Her dance training has continued through her studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, adding contemporary and postmodern to her repertoire. She is pursuing a BFA in Dance after broadening her ideas of what dance can do for the community, in
terms of social justice and liberation. She has performed in repertoire pieces by Camille A. Brown, Ephrat Asherie, Marilyn Sylla, and José Limón to name a few.
Allana teaches Hip Hop I for ages 8 and up with little to no dance experience on Saturdays at 12:00 – 1:00 pm.
In studio class is limited for season students but her Zoom class is open for drop-ins.
