Summer session starts on June 29 and ends on August 8.
All classes have both in-class and Zoom options.
If Phase 3 does not start on June 29, in-class options will be suspended until the start of Phase 3.

Classes

Ballet Fundamentals & Level I

Tuesday, 10:00 – 11:30 am              Instructor: Hannah Kennedy

For students who took Ballet Fundamentals or Level I at Amherst Ballet or an equivalent level class at another institution during the 2019-2020 season. Ages 6-9.

Levels II & III

Tuesday, 12:00 – 1:30 pm              Instructor: Hannah Kennedy

For students who took Level II or Level III at Amherst Ballet or an equivalent level class at another institution during the 2019-2020 season. Ages 9-13.

6-Week Intro to Ballet I

Thursday, 5:00 – 6:30 pm              Instructor: Karen Michaels

This course is designed to teach adults the beginning basics of ballet technique as well as proper and healthy bio-mechanical body alignment.
Students will learn basic ballet positions, vocabulary, and class exercises, with an emphasis on alignment and musicality.
Only offered online.

6-Week Intro to Ballet II

Thursday, 6:30 – 8:00 pm              Instructor: Karen Michaels

This course is for the students who finished Intro to Ballet I. 
Only offered online.

Advanced Beginner Ballet

Monday, 6:45 – 8:00 pm              Instructor: Madeleine Bonn

This class is intended for students who have established an understanding of basic ballet steps, positions, and concepts such as turn-out and proper alignment. 6 months to 1 year of previous experience recommended. Ages 12 and up.

Monday Intermediate/Mixed Level Ballet

Monday, 5:00 – 6:30 pm              Instructor: Madeleine Bonn

This class is intended for dancers who have established an intermediate or advanced level of proficiency, focusing on classical technique, alignment, strength, and flexibility, as well as musical and artistic nuance. Ages 12 and up.

Thursday Intermediate/Advanced Ballet

Thursday, 5:30 – 7:00 pm              Instructor: Stephanie Shumway

This class will mainly focus on movement. Still being efficient with technique, there will be plenty of waltzing, pirouettes, petite allegro and grande allegro incorporated in this class. 5 years of experience recommended. Ages 12 and up.

Saturday Intermediate/Mixed Level Ballet

Saturday, 10:30 am – 12:00 pm              Instructor: Rotating

This class is intended for dancers at an intermediate, advanced, professional or pre-professional level. Rotating instructors will include current Amherst Ballet teachers, alumni, and gifted artists from our local dance community and beyond. Ages 12 and up.

Contemporary

Tuesday, 5:00 – 6:30 pm              Instructor: Naomi Cooper-Monize

Modern

Wednesday, 5:00 – 6:30 pm              Instructor: Adele Fisk

Explore the foundations of classical modern technique in this Graham workshop. While foundational ballet technique will be an important base, no Graham experience is necessary for this open level class. Wear comfortable clothing you can move in, tight fitting shirt and long pants to protect knees during floor work. Ages 12 and up.

Pre-Registration

Required through DSP (click on the button below) by 5:00 pm the day before

  • The maximum enrollment is set at 7 in order to ensure safe distance between dancers.
  • The studio holds the right to cancel classes if the enrollment is too low. In such cases, pre-registered dancers will receive a cancellation notice by 6:30 pm the day before.
Safety Protocol

All the dancers must follow the safety protocol in order to protect themselves and their fellow dancers and teachers.
