Adult Beginner Ballet is Back!

Back by popular demand, Adult Beginner Ballet class will resume this Friday, February 11!

This class is designed for adults of all ages
who have had some previous instruction in ballet, or for those who may
have danced in the past and are interested in starting to dance again after
some time away. Students will move through traditional barre and center
exercises, practicing various positions of the head, arms, and lower body, and
working on jumps, turns, and a gradually expanding repertoire of more complex
steps in the center. An emphasis will be placed on learning safe and correct posture
and alignment, internalizing corrections, and using ballet as a means to
challenge yourself while moving your body in a fun and supportive environment.

Instructor: Sonya Marx

Sonya holds a bachelor’s degree in dance and English from Kenyon College. She began her dance training as a child at the Brattleboro School of Dance in Brattleboro, Vermont. Upon graduation from high school, she moved to New York, studying ballet and modern dance at Manhattan Youth Ballet, and has participated in summer training programs at The Rock School, Garden State Ballet, Burklyn Ballet Theatre, and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, among others. Sonya is passionate about making every student feel welcome in her classes, and works to cultivate an environment where students can feel safe and supported, wherever they might be in their dance journey.
