SUMMER TECHNIQUE CLASSES

Summer Ballet Technique Classes are held in the Amherst Ballet facility at 29 Strong Street (next to Wildwood Elementary) in our Upper Studio on a state-of-the-art, sprung dance floor. Classes are offered throughout the week for Intermediate and Intermediate/Advanced dancers aged 12 – adult. Classes are taught by Director Catherine Fair and Jenny Bennett-Mansur, on faculty at Amherst Ballet, and guest teachers will also be announced.

Director Catherine Fair has taught ballet and jazz to hundreds of students in Massachusetts and Virginia, where she was the Artistic Director of The Southside School of Ballet and the Academy of Emporia Ballet. Fair passed her teaching examinations with Merit in 1998 with The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and is an RAD certified teacher. She has attended teacher training in the Vaganova method at the Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet. Fair has taught all levels of Classical Ballet at Amherst Ballet for 11 years.

Jenny Bennett-Mansur teaches ballet, jazz, modern and creative movement at Amherst Ballet. She holds a BFA in Dance from the University of Massachusetts and choreographs and performs throughout Western Massachusetts.

Intermediate Ballet This is for dancers who have completed Level Five or are in Level A. This level is also suitable for adults returning to ballet or who do not dance at an advanced level.

Intermediate/Advanced Ballet This is suitable for dancers in Levels B and C. It is also suitable for serious students of ballet who have danced regularly throughout the past year.

Advanced Contemporary Jazz This is suitable for Levels B and C and adults and teens who have had significant experience in Modern and/or Jazz Dance.

Intermediate Contemporary Jazz This is suitable for Levels 5 and A and adults and teens who have at least two years of dance experience.
